Kathleen DiPrinzio

Background


At McEldrew Purtell, Katie is dedicated to helping injured people seek justice, with a focus on Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect and Medical Malpractice law.

In 2014, Katie became the first in her family to attend college, earning a Bachelor’s in Philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh.

After graduation, Katie took a nontraditional path to her legal career. Her perse background includes roles in the service industry, as a legal assistant, and as a full-time nanny and small business owner. These varied experiences allow her to connect with her clients, and one of her core values is bringing empathy and compassion into her work.

Katie earned her Juris Doctor from Temple University – Beasley School of Law. While in law school, she was a National Trial Team champion, competing against other law schools nationwide to hone the craft of trial law. Katie’s success in mock trial competitions and other trial advocacy pursuits at Temple Law earned her the Conwell Law Scholarship, the Trial Advocacy Scholarship for the 2022-2023 academic year, and The Integrated Trial Advocacy Award for excellence in trial advocacy.

After her grandmother was mistreated in a nursing home in 2022, Katie began to work for McEldrew Purtell’s Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect department, and she hasn’t looked back since.

In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.

Kevin Wittwer

Background


Kevin is a seasoned leader in Legal and Financial operations, specializing in delivering customized technical solutions through digital transformation and process reengineering.

Before joining our team, Kevin held roles as a consultant and senior project manager in tech-forward law firms across the country. Prior to immersing himself in legal tech, he directed Fintech initiatives, automating processes in securities, derivatives, and collateral for UBS bank. Kevin also consulted for the US Federal Government in Cybersecurity and Finance and served as a Commissioned Officer in the United States Army, graduating from Drexel University’s ROTC program in 2010 with an undergraduate degree in Law and Justice from Rowan University. He later earned his MBA with a concentration in Information Technology from Trevecca Nazarene University, attending in person as a full-time student while living in Nashville, TN.

Outside of work, Kevin is married with a son and shares their home with three dogs. He finds joy in playing guitar, hiking, fishing, and actively supporting his son’s football and basketball endeavors. His future dreams include opening a hobby farm to rescue animals with his wife Cristin and learning to code fluently with his son Eli.

Tabitha Hanson

Tabitha has devoted her legal career to representing victims injured by healthcare providers, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and personal care homes.

Prior to joining the firm, she began her legal career with Wilkes & McHugh, P.A., as a trial coordinator and paralegal from 2002-2017. In this capacity, Tabitha gained significant knowledge and experience in the area of nursing home abuse, neglect and medical malpractice litigation. In 2017, she began practicing as an attorney with Wilkes & McHugh, P.A. until 2019 when she joined Reddick Moss, PLLC. There she continued to assist in the litigation of nursing home abuse, neglect, and medical malpractice claims until she joined McEldrew Purtell.

Tabitha is a graduate of Delaware Law School at Widener University in Wilmington, Delaware. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern Mississippi before earning an M.B.A. from William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Additionally, she received an associate degree from Morrisville State College (formerly State University of New York at Morrisville) in Morrisville, NY.

Tabitha is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and the Eastern District of PA and is a member of the American Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association.

Cormick McLaughlin

Background


At McEldrew Purtell, Cormick is dedicated to seeking justice and standing up for people. His dedication to representing personal injuries is not a coincidence. He chose to leave a successful career as a real estate project manager for a law career after watching his own family navigate the complex legal system, while suffering from a personal injury that deserved compensation. Sitting on the sidelines while his family languished ignited a desire in him to attend law school. At Temple University – Beasley School of Law, he received the mentorship and training necessary to become a guiding light and advocate, so that those suffering from personal injury have an experienced, and passionate lawyer fighting for them.

Cormick joined McEldrew Purtell as a second-year law student. He gained first-hand experience through assisting with cases involving catastrophic injuries, medical malpractice, railroad injuries, civil rights violations, and other personal injury cases. Prior to joining McEldrew Purtell he worked for the Honorable Timika Lane in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.

Cormick received his undergraduate degree from Villanova University and his Juris Doctor from Temple University – Beasley School of Law. While in law school, Cormick was a member of Temple’s renowned National Trial Team, competing against other law schools around the country to hone the craft of trial law. As a result of his success in mock trial competitions and other trial advocacy pursuits at Temple Law, Cormick was awarded the Edward Ohlbaum Scholarship for the 2022-2023 academic year and The Victor S. Jaczun Award for excellence in trial advocacy.

Cormick lives in Fishtown. In his free time you can find him riding his bike, cheering on Philly sports teams, or enjoying some live music.

Ben Simmons

Background


Ben Simmons is a Pennsylvania-licensed attorney whose practice focuses on medical malpractice. He handles cases throughout the state and federal courts of Pennsylvania against hospital systems and health care networks on behalf of catastrophic injury victims.

Prior to joining McEldrew Purtell, Ben spent twelve years at a general litigation and criminal defense firm, specializing in medical malpractice, prisoner civil rights litigation, and a variety of other areas. His diverse practice experience informs his approach to client relationships and practical, results-oriented representation. At McEldrew Purtell, his focus is on holding corporations and healthcare systems responsible for putting profit above patient safety.

While earning his J.D., Ben completed Drexel Law’s co-op program at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC, where he supported attorneys in Corporate Finance and Business Litigation on matters that included white-collar criminal defense, trademark litigation, and transactional work related to a $12 million asset sale. He earned his J.D. from Drexel University’s Earle Mack School of Law (now Drexel Kline School of Law), graduating cum laude with a concentration in Business and Entrepreneurship Law, and received his B.A. in Political Science and Government from Bloomsburg University (now Commonwealth University–Bloomsburg).

Ben has been selected to Super Lawyers (2024–2026) and Rising Stars (2017–2022) and is a member of the Drexel Kline Inn of Court.

In his free time Ben enjoys traveling, running, and exploring Philadelphia’s food scene with his wife.

Jonathan Rubinstein

Background


Jon Rubinstein focuses his practice on the representation of individuals and their families in a range of catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death litigation, particularly in the areas of product liability, work-related incidents, medical malpractice, asbestos and toxic exposures, and negligence.

Prior to joining the firm, he worked at a prominent plaintiffs’ firm in Philadelphia with a focus on all types of personal injury and wrongful death litigation, securing multimillion-dollar awards for his clients across the country. Prior to moving to Philadelphia, Mr. Rubinstein worked at Sullivan & Brill in New York City, where he represented plaintiffs and defendants in all types of personal injury and civil rights cases. Mr. Rubinstein also served as Assistant Corporation Counsel to the City of New York, representing City agencies and employees in tort cases.

Mr. Rubinstein holds a B.A. in Political Science from Columbia University (2005) and earned his J.D. from Cardozo School of Law (2008) with a concentration in litigation. He also serves as a Judge Pro Tem and Arbitrator in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.

Daniel Ashton

Background


Dan has spent most of his 20-year career fighting for catastrophically injured individuals in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He has successfully litigated cases involving premises liability, construction, workplace, auto and trucking accidents. Dan is known for developing a strong bond with his clients and their families and tirelessly championing for their rights to justice.

Prior to joining McEldrew Purtell, Dan spent a decade at a prominent Philadelphia Plaintiffs law firm where he was instrumental in securing millions in recoveries for his clients.  He was also an active participant in the lawsuit to battle the opioid epidemic in Pennsylvania.

Dan’s passion for workers’ safety originated at home.  He comes from a union family with two brothers still active in the labor movement. He frequently provides lectures to labor organizations on workplace safety and a wide range of legal topics to help his community stay informed about how to stay protected both on the job and in a court room.  Dan is a graduate of the University of Delaware and Rutgers Law School.

Outside of work, Dan is an avid Philadelphia sports fan, a love he inherited from his father.  He loves the beach, live music, golfing and reading.  Above all, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Paula, and their three children.

Andrew Watto

Background


Andrew spent the first 10 years of his legal career representing and defending corporations and insurance clients. This experience provides him a keen insight into how his adversaries think and operate. Now, as an advocate for the injured, Andrew is committed to utilize his experience, attention to detail, compassion, knowledge and zealous advocacy to his clients. Andrew is also committed to being accessible to his clients as they navigate the legal process.

Andrew’s practice focuses on the field of Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect where he represents the families of nursing homes and other elder care facility residents that have been neglected and/or abused. Prior to joining McEldrew Purtell, Andrew defended nursing home abuse lawsuits for a national nursing home chain.

Andrew is a graduate of the Drexel University School of Law and received his bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from Temple University where he was a member of the Owl’s Division 1 soccer team.

In his free time, Andrew enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. He also enjoys running, playing adult league soccer, and coaching various youth sports for the Chestnut Hill Youth Sports Club.

Marcus Washington

Background


At McEldrew Purtell, Marcus is dedicated to standing up for the injured. Marcus is an experienced litigator with extensive trial experience, having tried countless bench and jury trials to verdict in both State and Federal Courts. Born and raised in North Philadelphia, Marcus obtained his undergraduate degree from Temple University and his law degree from Rutgers University School of Law in Camden, NJ. Marcus began his litigation career as an Assistant District Attorney with the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. There, Marcus advocated tirelessly for the victims of crimes, such as, attempted murder, rape, sexual assault, child molestation, and aggravated assault.

After several successful years as a prosecutor, Marcus received an opportunity to join one of Pennsylvania’s most reputable civil defense firms. Marcus would spend the next few years defending healthcare providers, daycare centers, public schools, and non-profit organizations against claims of professional malpractice and sexual assault. Marcus also counseled hospitals, health systems, physicians, and other healthcare providers in the areas of health law, internal investigations, and crisis management.

Ian Norris

Background


Ian has been representing the victims of nursing home abuse and neglect and medical malpractice for his entire legal career.  He has continually sought to achieve justice for those victims in multiple states throughout the country.  Ian is licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the State of New Jersey, the State of New York, the State of Massachusetts, the State of Colorado, the State of Arizona and the State of New Mexico.  Federally, Ian is licensed to practice in the Western District of Pennsylvania, the Middle District of Pennsylvania, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the District of New Jersey, District of Colorado and the District of New Mexico.  At McEldrew Purtell, Ian represents clients in issues arising from nursing home abuse and neglect, medical malpractice, and funeral home negligence.

Prior to joining the firm, Ian received his B.A. in History from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA and his law degree from Duquesne University School of Law. He began his legal career with Wilkes & McHugh, P.A. as a law clerk in 2005. As a law clerk, he researched and drafted numerous motions and briefs, gaining considerable experience in all aspects of litigation from pre-suit through trial. He practiced with Wilkes & McHugh as an attorney from 2008 until 2013. In 2013 he joined Reddick Moss, PLLC as the managing attorney for their Philadelphia office where he continued to litigate and try numerous cases across the country until 2022 when he Joined McEldrew Purtell.

Ian is a former collegiate track athlete at Dickinson College and lives in Center City, Philadelphia.  He enjoys training in Kenpo Karate and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, as well as attending concerts all over the country.
